Hi All, I'm currently recruiting for a skilled Controller to join a growing organization in Raleigh, NC. This role is responsible for leading all financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls, while partnering closely with leadership to drive financial accuracy and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead the preparation, analysis, and presentation of monthly financial statements and KPIs.
  • Own and manage the monthly close process to ensure an accurate, timely, and efficient close.
  • Maintain financials in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Develop and maintain detailed accrual schedules, subledgers, and supporting documentation.
  • Investigate variances, errors, and irregularities; implement corrective actions and controls to prevent recurrence.

Controls, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Design, implement, and enforce internal controls to manage risk, prevent fraud, and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Oversee internal and external audit processes.
  • Manage local tax compliance, filings, and deadlines.
  • Partner with external accountants to support federal and state income tax filings.
  • Prepare accurate and timely 1099 reporting and respond to tax-related inquiries or audits.

Operational Accounting & Process Improvement

  • Implement strong, scalable inventory management practices.
  • Oversee job costing, departmental accounting, and margin analysis.
  • Manage cash and treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting.
  • Lead accounts receivable, payments, rebates, and collections.
  • Evaluate and implement financial systems and software to enhance reporting and operational insight.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor a multi-location accounting team with varied experience levels.
  • Recruit, develop, and train accounting staff as needed.
  • Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy, security, and compliance.
